About COMAX
===========
The COMAX application is designed to connect locally or remotely to PIMA’s devices (i.e., 
control panels, transmitters, etc.).  By connecting to these devices, the application enables 
the user to upload/download parameters to/from the devices, program devices, get an on-line 
status report, read the event log stored in memory, etc.

The COMAX is a Windows based application and it uses a special PIMA modem to remotely 
connect to PIMA’s devices; it uses special adapters (LCL-11A and DPR-33/44) to locally 
connect to PIMA’s device.


Requirements:
=============
@ Hardware
  * PC compatible computer:
    A Pentium II 450 MHz or higher; a display adapter with 2 MB memory
  * VGA monitor
  * CD drive (only for installing the software)
  * A free 9-pin D-type serial port (RS-232)
    Note: A 25-pin to 9-pin adaptor (not included) can be used where a 9-pin socket are 
    not available
  * LCL-11A Adapter (for local programming)
  * DPR-33/44 Adapter (for direct programming)
  * TC-3 Technician Cable  (optional for local programming)
  * PIMA custom modem P/N 5200005 (for remote programming)
@ Software
  * Windows operating system version 98 SE, ME, 2000, NT (SP4), or XP
  * 10 MB free hard disk space


Installing the software:
========================
Note: If you already have COMAX installed on your PC, run the "Comax Upgrade" tool (found 
in the "Upgrade" folder)!
1. Verify the version of your Operating System (OS)
2. Insert the COMAX setup CD into your CD drive
3. Within the setup CD folder, double clicking the "Setup.EXE" icon to launch the setup 
   utility
4. Follow the installation steps as displayed on the screen
Note:  It is recommended to read carefully the supplied Manual (PDF format) before installing and operating COMAX for the first time.
